Project Spotlight: Antique Beams in Historic Red Oaks Plantation
We provide reclaimed antique materials to many homes and commercial spaces every year, but there's something extra special about these products ending up back in historic settings, such as the Red Oaks Plantation in Oakfield, Georgia that we're spotlighting this week!
The original site of the Red Oaks Plantation was the horse barn for Mercer Mill Plantation, which was known for quail hunting. The barn, built in the early 1920s, and the land around it were sold in 1994 to George Brennan who had a vision to create the ultimate wildlife plantation, teeming with trophy white-tailed deer. An outdoorsman's hunting dream!
Justin Jantz, Owner of Jantz Construction, was hired to renovate the original barn and build new facilities to accommodate the growth of the business. He reached out to Southend Reclaimed to source Original Face Sawn Box Beams and Original Face Reclaimed Antique Heart Pine Solid Beams for the barn and new pavilion. We hand-selected each beam to ensure a similar aged patina that would match the original beams in the barn.

The plantation is still used for hunting, but has also expanded into a space for weddings and other events, offering a full catering kitchen, lounges and changing rooms for wedding parties. The Barn will have a capacity of 300 upon completion. You can learn more about Red Oaks Plantation here!
