History of Southend
In 2001 Southend Reclaimed, then known as Southend Building Products, began as a small company offering a wide variety of building products to customers across the Carolinas. Then, in 2003, led by our growing interest and passion for reclaimed wood, we bought our first turn-of-the-century textile mill, reclaimed the raw materials and quickly became a leading wholesaler of antique heart pine and brick.
In 2005, Southend welcomed Paul Atkinson, current co-owner and CEO. Paul instilled the customer-first approach and high level of professionalism that Southend would become known for. He also launched a strategic plan to become a leader not just of antique heart pine, but of all reclaimed species, and not just of raw material, but of numerous processed reclaimed products such as flooring, beams and other custom millwork.
The combination of superior quality and sheer volume of antique materials with the most highly skilled woodworking and milling capabilities around created a strong new leader in the reclaimed industry.
In March 2013, Southend Building Products changed its name to Southend Reclaimed. We thought it was time our name caught up with our passion and position as a leader in the reclaimed wood and brick industry. With administrative and operational headquarters in Davidson, NC and our lumberyard in Chester, NC, we earned the reputation of an honest, professional, “one-stop-shop” for reclaimed wood and brick.
We select the best of the past – one board and one beam at a time. By choosing only the most distinctive wood that has been hand-crafted from an era when quality was the tradition, we are able to offer the finest in antique building materials. Personal attention is paid to even the smallest detail in order to highlight the features particular to each type of wood.
Today, Southend is proud of its position as one of the largest providers of reclaimed wood in the country. Our inventory is unmatched in volume and quality. We can meet the needs of the most discerning client, whether it’s bulk raw materials, custom millwork, flooring or hand-crafted furniture. We realize that reclaimed wood is more of an art than a science, and we work hard to understand and then exceed the expectations of our customers.
We are proud of the passion and expertise each and every member of our team possesses. Our cumulative talent allows us to create unique products that are as warm and inviting as the wood we work with.
We help bring history home, we are Southend Reclaimed.
