The original site of the Red Oaks Plantation was the horse barn for Mercer Mill Plantation, which was known for quail hunting. The barn, built in the early 1920s, and the land around it were sold in 1994 to George Brennan who had a vision to create the ultimate wildlife plantation, teeming with trophy white-tailed deer. About an hour and a half north of Syracuse, NY, you’ll find a beautiful lakeside home belonging to Tom and Marlene O’Reilly. Although they have lived in Florida for 25 years, Thomas is originally from Syracuse and he and Marlene always knew that they wanted to have a second home there. With the gorgeous sunsets nearly every night and the breathtaking lake views, we can certainly see why! We worked with a lot of customers on a lot of different projects in 2021, but this one really stands out! Alisa contacted us to source reclaimed wood for the porch she planned to convert to a sunroom…and she wanted reclaimed wood EVERYWHERE. We are, of course, reclaimed wood fanatics, but even we hadn’t worked on a project that had reclaimed wood quite literally from floor to ceiling. But Alisa had a very specific vision that combined “farm” with “mountain resort”, and we were going to help her achieve it! See more
Project Spotlight: Key Largo Anglers Club
In 2019, Peacock + Lewis Architects and Interior Designers completed a 12,000 sf. renovation and addition to the historic Key Largo Anglers Club in Key Largo, Florida. Established in the 1920’s as a “Florida Keys Fishing Camp”, the club’s rich and unique history is still evident today as you walk through the club where past presidents and their families spent their leisure time. Some of the unique features that were painstakingly preserved include the original cypress log walls in the main living room, coral stone walls and native heart pine flooring. See more

Hand Distressed European White Oak Featured in IDS Charlotte Charity Showhouse!
The Charlotte chapter of the Interior Design Society (IDS Charlotte) recently completed its first designer showhouses, which consist of three custom homes located in The Preserve at Narrow Passage in Davidson, just north of Charlotte, NC. Product Spotlight: Helene Curtis Heart Pine
Helene Curtis Industries, founded in Chicago in 1927, was a leading producer of personal care products. The Helene Curtis headquarters, located in Chicago, was built in 1912. Like many buildings from that time, it eventually fell into a state of disrepair and was unfortunately no longer safe for people to use, so it was set to be deconstructed. We knew immediately that we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to share such a cool piece of history! See more

Risom Mill
Built in 1899, Risom Mill was originally home to Cluett Peabody & Company, a clothing manufacturer. Cluett Peabody & Co. was the largest employer in town, and the mill was a workspace for over 1,000 employees. When Cluett Peabody & Company abruptly closed their doors nearly 60 years later, the mill was purchased by Danish-American furniture designer, Jens Risom. Risom Mill was home to various other things in the years after furniture production ended, but eventually began to succumb to the effects of age and neglect. Southend has since stepped in to salvage all of the structural wood and brick. See more
Century Walk Original Face Heart Pine
Rescued and reclaimed from an 1880s cotton warehouse in Chicopee, Massachusetts, this wood includes boards that were literally walked on by workers one hundred years ago. The floor boards from this warehouse were all unpainted, a true rarity in the reclaimed materials world. This is unique since most old floors from this era were maple and had a thick poly finish. The direct exposure to air over the past 130 years has also created a distinct, rich, brown face on every board and beam, a true contrast to the typical auburn color of most antique heart pine. Ellingtons Farm Center
Built at the turn of the century using only men and mules, this 100,000 square foot building is the most uniquely constructed project we have ever worked on. After being closed for decades and beginning to collapse, Southend Reclaimed stepped in to salvage over 200,000 board feet of Heart Pine from this site. Bringing Home the Belleview Biltmore Hotel
Built in 1897 by railroad magnate Henry Plant, this extraordinary 820,000 square foot hotel was a beloved vacation destination for the rich and famous. In addition to hosting a great number of dignitaries, the hotel was used to house more than 3,000 US troops during WWII when the owners of the Belleview joined the war effort. The Belleview doors were closed in 2009 for a large renovation project, but it was never completed due to the economic recession. A number of proposals to restore the property were unsuccessful, and demolition was set to begin in 2015 to make way for condominiums. Southend Reclaimed is honored to help the legacy of the Biltmore live on for generations through the wood and brick reclaimed from the site. See more

Southend Reclaims South Bend
The Wilson Brothers Shirt Company was once a thriving fixture in South Bend, Indiana. Along with Studebaker, it was one of the primary employers in the area with 2,200 workers by 1929. Southend Reclaimed is now in the painstaking process of reclaiming the Wilson Brothers shirt factory. We anticipate this project will generate a half a million board feet of rare antique heart pine. These unique materials include 2″ x 14″ unpainted joists with circular saw marks. See more
Antique Heart Pine From A Century Ago
Southend Reclaimed discovered the material treasures of this century-old mill and is making them available for your next project. Built in 1915, the Fairfax Mill produced towels and other cotton goods for the West Point Manufacturing Company. Through our careful and tedious reclamation process, about 350,000 board feet or beams, 700,000 board feet of decking, and 1 million antique bricks from this site is now available. See more
